The Theater Standards for Education are still in development. In the meantime, there are sections dedicated to safety in learning spaces included in The Foundational Standards document, accessible in the menu to the right.

 

During the conversations with the MNTAC community, the lack of clear standards in the area of theater education became a main concern. Other standards documents briefly mention education, but the need for more comprehensive information and resources for best practices was clear. A dedicated team of volunteers with experience in the area of arts education went about the task of developing a comprehensive set of standards specific to the needs of learners in theater arts educational settings.

 

Knowing that the safety of students is of the utmost importance, this outstanding work is in process and will be shared here upon its completion as a resource for educators and students in settings from grade school through undergraduate work, adult learners and professionals obtaining new skills.
